The Columbia River school takes place over 15 days and is an opportunity for youth ages 15-18 to explore and learn about the Columbia River by way of canoe. Along their 15 day canoe trip they make stops to learn and interact with various groups of people.
They explore topics such as Indigenous perspectives, ecology and key species, hydrology and river characteristics, dams and hydroelectricity, the Columbia River Treaty, Climate change and youth on policy.
Heather Shaw, Living Lakes Canada High Elevation Monitoring Program Manager, will be a guest speaker at the event on July 22, 2023.
