Sarah is a dynamic force in the world of environmental conservation, and her diverse skill set shone during her time with Living Lakes Canada as a Biomonitoring Program Assistant. Working within the Canadian Aquatic Biomonitoring Network (CABIN) and iTrackDNA & Targeted eDNA programs, Sarah directly contributed to freshwater stewardship education. Her efforts helped equip communities with the knowledge and skills to monitor water quality and quantity in their local watersheds.
Sarah’s experience with Living Lakes provided her with valuable experience in helping coordinate multi-partner projects and effectively communicating scientific information to non-expert audiences. Reflecting on her summer with Living Lakes, Sarah shared, “Working with partnering groups taught me that when people unite around shared values, participate in collaborative learning processes, and set clear goals, new possibilities emerge—such as greater autonomy over resources and even systemic change for the better.” She continued, “Living Lakes is one of those key players that translate values, goals, and visions into meaningful action and outcomes. I’m excited to see more positive change come from Living Lakes and its partnerships over the years, especially at a time when it’s so urgently needed.”
Sarah left Living Lakes to work with B.C.’s Ministry of Water, Land, and Resource Stewardship as a Water Technician. In this role, she provides technical evaluation and advisory services to support informed decisions on the sustainable use and management of freshwater.
Thank you, Sarah, for your contributions to Living Lakes! We look forward to working in parallel with you in a collective effort to advance freshwater stewardship in B.C.
