Several of Living Lakes Canada’s team members will be attending a course on surveying and measuring streamflow delivered by the BC Ministry of Environment’s Hydrometric Training Program.

The course will cover:

  • Validating stage using reference gauges
  • Survey techniques for hydrometrics
  • Control dynamics in hydrometrics
  • Velocity-Area Discharge Measurement (wading)
  • Best practices for hydrometric site visits

The training will support the installation of hydrometric stations as part of the implementation of our Columbia Basin Water Monitoring Framework in three pilot areas later this summer. The event is to be hosted by the Elk River Alliance at James White Park in Fernie, B.C.
