Friends of Kootenay Lake

Living Lakes Canada is proud of all the citizen groups we’ve helped to train and empower. We envision a Canada where citizens are actively involved in decisions related to their water. A place that values and respects traditional knowledge and brings together multiple stakeholders—Government, NGO, First Nations and community stewardship groups—to reexamine our relationship to water and make important decisions for the future.

Friends of Kootenay Lake, an inclusive stewardship organization dedicated to sustaining a healthy Kootenay Lake for future generations, was co-created in 2012 as a partnership between Wildsight, Kootenay Lake Partnership and West Kootenay EcoSociety. It’s a wonderful example of what is possible when we get our hands wet and work together to make sure our water is clean and healthy, now and into the future.
