Wetlands are the lungs of freshwater ecosystems, and often contain submerged trees depending on the water level. After strong winds, it’s not uncommon for some to fall over. This image was taken by drone at Lindsey Lake, part of the Queen’s University Biological Station. Fallen trees like these provide habitat for wildlife such as turtles and fish fry and are critical for cycling nutrients back into the system.
