As development encroaches on every piece of lakeside property, not only are the wild animals who live in or beside the water affected, but the wild animals from the forest and hills are less and less able to get to the lake for a drink of water, as they’ve been able to do so for generations. Runoff is affected as well as increased pollutants leaching into the water.
