Frank Lake area is home to 256 bird species, included 60 species at risk that are known to frequent the area with a total of over 24,000 individual birds.

There is a growing concern around the development of man-made infrastructure around the protected area. From power lines to potential solar farms to gravel pits. Projects like this tend to be placed in areas where the land can’t be farmed. A growing community is fearing that, as more land is taken away from wildlife, there won’t be anything left for future generations.

(as of April 2023 the solar farm has been denied)
