Growing up among the waters and mountains of the West Kootenays, Grace developed a deep sense of connection to place and a passion for fostering healthy, resilient ecosystems. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Environmental Science and Applied Biology from Simon Fraser University, where she completed an undergraduate Honours Research Thesis examining trends in wildlife diversity and forest habitat structure. Grace is also a Biologist in Training (BIT) with the College of Applied Biologists.
Since returning to Nelson, Grace has worked with a variety of environmental non-profits and biologists, most recently serving as a Stewardship Coordinator with the Friends of Kootenay Lake. She brings experience in freshwater ecology, wildlife monitoring, habitat restoration, and community-driven stewardship to her role with Living Lakes Canada. As the Lakes Program Coordinator, Grace contributes to the Foreshore Integrated Management Planning (FIMP) initiative and other projects that support lake health and collaborative watershed management.
When she’s not at work, Grace can often be found exploring the mountains with friends, eating huckleberries, or tending her garden.
