Advisors | All Living Lakes Canada Programs

Claire is an aquatic ecologist who anchors her practice in both scientific and community-engaged approaches. She holds a BSc from the University of British Columbia and a Masters of Marine Management from Dalhousie University, with research that focused on overcoming barriers to Indigenous Food Sovereignty in shellfish food systems. While a staff member at Living Lakes Canada, Claire coordinated the Applied Reconciliation Program, supporting relationship-building with Indigenous Peoples across the organization’s water stewardship programming. Claire is now an environmental consultant, working primarily with First Nations governments and collaborative governance partnerships in B.C. on marine and freshwater environmental decision-making. She leverages decision-support tools, cumulative effects approaches, and facilitation skills to address environmental problems in cross-cultural contexts. With a background in collaborative governance and conflict resolution, and having worked closely with Indigenous governments, groups, and individuals across Canada within the last decade, Claire brings current experience engaging with and working alongside Indigenous Peoples and local communities on freshwater and marine ecosystems. Claire enjoys watching the marine world pass by her home on the Sunshine Coast in Gibsons, B.C., territory of Squamish Nation.
