Location: Ontario, Niagara on the Lake, Ont./Ont.Just another shot of Lake Ontario, at the mouth of the Niagara River with Fort Niagara on the US side in the background. The proximity of the US across the river has always made for an interesting dynamic. My grandfather was arrested during prohibition trying to run alcohol across the river under cover of the night. I have friends who once thought they would swim across the river to Fort Niagara, but thought better of it after getting about 300 yards out in the water. We would go “over the river” regularly in our youth for cheap beer and gas, chicken wings and football games. And I once floated down the river on a pool floatie with buddies (a stupid move looking back. Ah youth, it is wasted on the young). These bodies of water are a part of my memories and a part of who I am.
