Location: Ontario, Niagara on the Lake, Ont./Ont.

I grew up in Niagara on the Lake playing along the shores of Lake Ontario. Climbing the break walls, wandering the shoreline looking for golf balls from the NOTL Golf Club, watching storms and northern lights form over the waters of the lakes, tubing and even floating down the Niagara River from Queenston Landing. On a clear day, you can stare across its expanse and see Toronto on the other side (it’s there, look closely). I remember being able to see the SkyDome take shape when it was being constructed, before the view to downtown was obscured by all the high rise apartments. A body of water this size becomes a part of your soul and spirit. I love standing on its edge and gazing across, getting lost in its quiet but powerful presence, whenever I come home to visit family and friends. Lake Ontario will always be a part of who I am.
