THIS EVENT IS INVITE-ONLY.
Living Lakes Canada will be hosting a CABIN field assistant certification in the Nechako watershed near Fort St. James in collaboration with the Binche Whut’en First Nation.
The training is part of Living Lakes Canada’s STREAM project which is a collaboration between the World Wildlife Fund-Canada, Environment and Climate Change Canada and the University of Guelph. The STREAM project aims to generate better understanding of the health of river systems across Canada through building community based water monitoring capacity and and applying cutting edge genomics tecnology.
Participants include Binche Whut’en First Nation members. Participants will collect benthic macroinvertebrate samples using the CABIN methods to develop their local biomonitoring programs. Water values will be surveyed with community members to identify the most critical and important sites for stream health assessments.
