Have a favourite lake? Want to keep it healthy? Join the 2nd Annual National Lake Blitz!

From May 1st to September 30th 2022, Lake Blitz volunteers across Canada will help create a ‘snapshot’ of Canadian freshwater bodies by collecting temperature readings and shoreline photos at their chosen lakes.

When you sign up for the Lake Blitz, we will mail you a free “how-to” kit complete with a thermometer!

Participants take photos and sample their local lake twice a month from May to September. At the end of the sampling season, the data collected will be shared on a Lake Blitz Observation Map and on publicly accessible water data websites.

As a Lake Blitz volunteer, you will become part of a growing national network of water stewards who can meet regularly online to share results, ask questions, and sit in on presentations from water experts from across Canada. Volunteers also have the chance to win prizes!
