Title of Position: Communications Coordinator
- Projected duration: 6 months (immediate start) with possibility of FT position thereafter.
- Location: Remote, but preference will be given to applicants who live in British Columbia and specifically in the Columbia Basin where many of our projects are currently located.
- Hours: 32-40 hours per week
- Salary range: $50,000 – $54,000 (dependent on experience)

Job Summary:
Living Lakes Canada (LLC) seeks a creative, organized, proactive, and motivated Communications Coordinator. Reporting directly to the Communications Director, the Communications Coordinator will work closely with LLC program managers and coordinators to help develop and implement inspired and effective content across a variety of media platforms to expand and engage all of LLC’s audiences. The ideal candidate will have a passion for climate action, environmental science, social change and storytelling, a strong instinct to think outside the box and experiment with new ideas, skilled working knowledge of current digital marketing best practices, excellent writing ability, and familiarity with the non-profit sector.
Responsibilities:
- Raise awareness of LLC’s mission and programs by creating and sharing interesting, relevant, and engaging content.
- Grow and develop a variety of content for LLC’s social media channels identifying new and innovative ways to enhance and expand LLC’s outreach to various stakeholders.
- Help manage the LLC website, which includes ongoing updates, creating a variety of content, ensuring that the site is fresh and timely, accurate, representative of LLC’s many bodies of work, and engaging to a variety of audiences.
- Coordinate and create regular, topical, and timely content for the LLC blog/news page; working with LLC staff to author blog posts.
- Produce videos for social media, events, and other promotional opportunities.
- Develop, compile and analyze monthly reports and web analytics to inform content creation; set benchmarks and goals to track progress and growth.
- Champion LLC’s communication diary.
- Maintain and uphold LLC’s branding and messaging guidelines in all digital and printed materials, as well as partner/funding branding commitments and obligations.
- Provide communications support to other departments, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Communications or LLC leadership.

- Ability to receive and incorporate feedback.
- Experience creating compelling, engaging digital content.
- Experience building social media channels and executing social media strategy for maximum engagement, particularly for mission-driven non-profits.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience or fluency in: Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat), basic HTML; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube; Hootsuite or other social media management/monitoring tools; Basic website publishing via WordPress; Google analytics; Mailchimp; Photography and video creation and editing skills (or willingness to learn).
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have:
- A conservation ethic and value set aligned to Living Lakes Canada.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or relevant field; 3-5 years of professional experience in communications, journalism, or marketing; or an equivalent of education, training and experience.
- Commitment to equity and reducing disparities based on race, ethnicity, immigration status, sovereignty, gender, sexual orientation/gender identity, and socioeconomics.
- Preference will be given to applicants with a background or experience in the environmental and/or non-profit sector.
