One of Living Lakes Canada’s most far-reaching programs is the National Lake Blitz. This annual event encourages volunteers across Canada to capture shoreline and biodiversity data and take part in stewarding their local lakes. The ongoing success of the National Lake Blitz can be largely attributed to the lasting efforts of Camille.

As the National Lake Blitz Program Manager from 2020 to 2024, Camille was instrumental in expanding Living Lakes’ national presence and strengthening its mission to protect Canada’s freshwater sources. Through education, outreach, and relationship-building, she helped empower individuals and communities to take part in lake stewardship.

Camille trained and supported over 200 volunteers annually to monitor lake health. She developed lasting relationships with more than 50 water stewardship groups across Canada and expanded the program’s reach to 12 provinces and territories. Beyond volunteer coordination, she managed logistics, organized an annual webinar series featuring diverse speakers, and collaborated on key communication pieces, including a 3-year Lake Blitz Volunteer Report

Camille now holds the role of Community Resilience Coordinator with the Regional District of Central Kootenay. In this role, she leads engagement initiatives and oversees climate action and resilience projects focused on building community preparedness.

“My biggest takeaway from my time with Living Lakes was seeing the powerful impact of community engagement and education in environmental stewardship,” Camille shared. “By supporting volunteers, fostering partnerships, and ensuring national exposure for the Lake Blitz, I realized how essential relationship-building is in mobilizing collective action to protect our freshwater ecosystems.”

We are deeply grateful for your remarkable contributions to the National Lake Blitz program and lake health across Canada, Camille!
