Sarah grew up in Nelson, BC amidst mountains, forests and lakes. Being part of an avid camping family instilled in Sarah a love of Kootenay Lake and messing around outdoors. Interested in just about everything, Sarah pursued a BSc in Geography at the University of Victoria, and completed a Master's degree in Geographic Information Science at University College London, UK.
Sarah's myriad work experience includes time as a Fisheries Observer in Prince Rupert, administration and human resources for a vaccines start-up in London, UK, and a 20-year career as a professional figure skating coach in Nelson while raising her three children. Over the years, Sarah has served as a director for a number of nonprofit organizations. Sarah joined Living Lakes Canada in 2021, and has enjoyed developing the Administrative and Human Resources functions from the ground up to support the important work of freshwater stewardship.
In addition to being a dedicated choral singer and haphazard gardener, Sarah is a passionate kayaker on Kootenay Lake, paddling often and venturing near and far to explore the many local waterways.
