Kaite grew up in northern British Columbia on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Lheidli T'enneh. With two biologists as parents she spent most of her free time outdoors, camping, hiking and exploring. At a young age she became involved in the environmental field following her parents' footsteps.

In her teenage years, Kaite spent her summers working for an environmental consulting company. This work included sieve analysis, silt fencing installations, planting cattails and amphibian salvage. She continued this for many years, finishing with a summer of forestry work and assisting with stream assessments. This experience led Kaite to the Kootenays where she came across The Youth Climate Corps (YCC), an educational work program run by Wildsight. She had the opportunity to learn from environmental professionals and took part in an array of restoration projects. The YCC equipped her with a multitude of skills and knowledge which she has used to forward her career in the environmental sector.

Kaite's interests in lake stewardship grew when she participated in a LakeKeepers Workshop with the British Columbia Lake Stewardship Society. This fascination with lake health led her to the position of Lake Blitz Program Coordinator with Living Lakes Canada.
