Anthony Kovacs – Burnaby Lake

A view towards Lougheed Village and surrounding high-rises from the east end of Burnaby lake, overlooking a patch of water lilies. The lake is centrally located in Burnaby and is a destination for locals seeking nature and recreational activities. It is under constant impacts from human activity and more-so as the population increases, as shown by the high-rises under construction. The natural evolution of its lentic ecosystem is also under threat from the community that strives to maintain the lake for specific aquatic purposes and from invasive species that are introduced to the surrounding environment.
