Participants from the Kootenay Expedition of Girls* On Ice will share their findings from scientific experiments conducted while on a 10 day backcountry exploration in Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park. For one of the days, Living Lakes Canada Program Manager led a full-day high elevation monitoring training for participants, teaching them to assess the chemical and biological parameters of alpine streams and lakes in the Kokanee region.
As part of the Girls on Ice expedition, each student researches various glacier-related topics such as glacier dynamics, glacial organisms, geomorphology, and the flora and fauna of a glacial environment. Come hear the presentations at this free community event.
