Columbia River Field School

Wildsight’s Columbia River Field School takes place over 15 days and is an opportunity for youth ages 15-18 to explore and learn about the Columbia River by way of canoe. Along their 15 day canoe trip they make stops to learn and interact with various groups of people.

Youth participants explore topics such as Indigenous perspectives, ecology and key species, hydrology and river characteristics, dams and hydroelectricity, the Columbia River Treaty and climate change.

Living Lakes Canada will be a guest speaker at the event, opening up dialogue around climate change impacts to freshwater and the importance of water monitoring and community-driven water stewardship.
