The Canadian Open Data Summit 2024 will be held in Edmonton, bringing together leaders, innovators, and enthusiasts to explore the transformative power of open data. This year’s summit focuses on key themes shaping our future: Housing Crisis: Data Perspectives, where experts will examine how open data can provide insights and solutions to address housing challenges; Unlocking Knowledge: The Power of Open Science, which will highlight the role of transparency in advancing scientific discovery; and Open Business: Driving Innovation, Enterprise, and Public Benefit, exploring how open data fosters economic growth and public good.

In an era of accelerating climate change, the importance of reliable and accessible water data has never been more critical. Communities are facing unprecedented challenges in managing their water resources, necessitating innovative approaches to data collection, sharing, and application. Living Lakes Canada’s presentation at the Canadian Open Data Summit will dive into the concept of regional scale databases as a collaborative and effective tool in the climate action toolbox, highlighting the Columbia Basin Water Hub as a case study.
